Meet Samantha Granville, the latest addition to the Tease Hair Boutique Associate program. A southern Massachusetts native, Sam enjoyed styling hair from a young age, creating beautiful new looks for herself and her family and friends. After high school, Sam decided to keep her hair dreams as a passion and instead attend college where she received a business degree.
After finishing school, Sam landed an office job and started her career in recruitment and human resources, where she worked for over eight years. Like many others, Sam recently began to think about her career longer term and if this was how she wanted to spend her life. Eight years into her career, she decided it was time to put her passion first, quitting her office job and enrolling in Mansfield Beauty School.
“For as long as I can remember I have loved styling and playing with hair,” Sam reminisces, “Eight years later I finally decided to pursue my passion full time, and I’m so glad I did!”
Once Sam enrolled in the Cosmetology Apprenticeship Program, she began looking for a part time opportunity to give her more hands-on experience as she attended school. Hearing the great reputation Tease Hair Boutique has for their continued education through the Associate Program, Sam was immediately compelled to apply. Now four months into her new career at Tease Hair Boutique, Sam enjoys the flexibility of gaining hands-on experience three days a week at the salon while still attending school.
“Tease has a great reputation for encouraging their stylists to continue their education via in-salon classes and for supporting new stylists entering the field,” says Sam, “all of my colleagues have been so warm and welcome, and the friendly clients have made it even better.”
Sam is set to graduate with her cosmetology license in May and plans to continue her career at Tease Hair Boutique, working her way through the Associate Program and into a level one hair stylist position. While she’s still finding her footing, she thoroughly enjoys doing updos and learning new cutting techniques. Sam’s passion for her new field is exciting and she loves that each day is different as she gets the opportunity to make clients feel beautiful and confident.
When Sam isn’t in school or at the salon, she enjoys a variety of activities including hanging with friends, hitting the New England ski slopes in the winter and the beautiful beaches in the summer. Although she is now pursuing a new passion, if she didn’t have to work for a living she would spend her days renovating houses. Sam also enjoys immersing herself in new cultures; in fact she lived in Glasgow, Scotland for ten years.
Sam believes that to be a good stylist, you need to be a good listener, innovative, and honest.
“Being honest and setting proper expectations with clients will build a stronger and more trusting relationship in the long term, and that’s important.”
The Tease Hair Boutique team is incredibly excited to have Sam onboard and watch as she grows in her new career. Next time you’re in the salon make sure to say hello and give her a warm welcome!
