Meet Caitlin Figgins, an Associate at Tease Hair Boutique who has been a part of the team for about six months. A South Shore native, Caitlin grew up in Whitman where she enjoyed spending time with family and friends and of course her favorite past-time, reading. Despite her book-worm tendencies, Caitlin has always thoroughly enjoyed working with people; she spent eight years working in a coffee shop in Boston before deciding to become a Hairstylist.
Caitlin didn’t always know she wanted to be a stylist; in fact growing up, she had dreams of becoming a firefighter. It wasn’t until she got the opportunity to spend time at the salon where her mothers best friend Nicole worked that she considered a profession in the beauty industry. A Hairstylist and huge inspiration, Caitlin loved watching Nicole work and became interested in following in her footsteps.
“I grew up going to her salon and always loved watching her do what she does best,” says Caitlin, “She is such a rad inspiration. I hope to be the stylist she is one day!”
Once Caitlin decided to become a stylist, she attended Toni and Guy Academy in Braintree. Upon finishing school, she was looking for a salon where she could continue to learn and fine-tune her skills. When she came across the Associate Program opportunity at Tease Hair Boutique, she was attracted to the hands-on approach to learning and immediately applied.
“I enjoy the education program at Tease and the fact that moving up in the program is in my hands,” says Caitlin, “it’s truly up to me how far I take my career and I love that!”
Caitlin is a member of Behind the Chair, a community for stylists to collaborate and learn from each other, through which she has taken countless classes and received numerous certifications. She is also certified in Brazilian Blowout and Keratin Complex, specializing in cutting techniques and deeply enjoying an opportunity to work with fashion colors.
When she’s not at the salon, Caitlin can be found spending time with family and friends, at the beach, or most often curled up with a good book. In fact, Caitlin reads an average of three books per week and if she didn’t have to work for a living, you’d likely find her in a cabin by a lake somewhere with all of her reading materials. In addition to her reading habits, she is an adrenaline junky; she’s even been skydiving and cliff jumping and enjoys similar activities when she’s not behind the chair!
When asked what she enjoys most about being a Hairstylist, Caitlin exclaims that the opportunity to put a smile on the face of others is hands down the best part.
“I love how everyday is different,” Caitlin explains, “I love seeing my clients, hearing about their lives, and getting the opportunity to meet new people and put a smile on their face.”
Next time you’re at the salon, make sure to say hello to Caitlin and ask about her favorite books or recent adventures!
